DANIEL FAST

The spiritual benefits of a 21-day Daniel Fast focus on deepening your relationship with God by setting aside physical indulgences to prioritize spiritual nourishment.

To the family at God First Christian Center: this 21-day devotional is designed to align with our mission of making the church relevant to both young and old through the successful application of God’s Word.

Each day includes a scripture, a focused reflection, and a prayer to help you live by the Spirit and impact Richmond for Jesus.

Week 1: Placing God First (The Foundation)

Focus: Realigning your life with God's Word and purpose.

  1. Day 1: The Priority of the Kingdom (Matthew 6:33). Start by acknowledging your dependence on God. Ask Him to realign your priorities.

  2. Day 2: Relevant Faith (Romans 12:2). Reflect on how to apply the Word so it stays relevant in your daily life, regardless of your age.

  3. Day 3: Wholehearted Worship (Psalm 100:2). Come before God with your whole self—mind and heart—offering thanks for a new day.

  4. Day 4: Successful Application (James 1:22). It’s not enough to hear the Word; we must be doers to see the transformation GFCC envisions.

  5. Day 5: Training for Greatness (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Pray for the "successful training" of men and women at GFCC in every race and creed.

  6. Day 6: A Family of Believers (Psalm 133:1). Celebrate the unity and fellowship of your church family in Richmond.

  7. Day 7: The Power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8). Seek the Spirit's power to move beyond your own strength into "God-possibilities".

Week 2: Transforming Richmond (The Impact)

Focus: Scattering to bring Heaven to Earth in our neighborhoods.

  1. Day 8: Impacting the World (Matthew 5:14). Ask God how your presence at GFCC can shine a light specifically in Richmond.

  2. Day 9: Breaking Strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4). Use prayer and fasting today to dismantle any negative thoughts or habits hindering your progress.

  3. Day 10: Kingdom Culture: Honour (Romans 12:10). Practice recognizing the value and "God-image" in everyone you meet today.

  4. Day 11: Kingdom Culture: Generosity (2 Corinthians 9:8). Ask God to help you receive and release His abundance to those in need in RVA.

  5. Day 12: Kingdom Culture: Authenticity (Psalm 15:2). Pray for the integrity to live your faith openly and honestly.

  6. Day 13: Loving the Neighbor (Mark 12:31). Reflect on how to love the person right in front of you—your neighbor, coworker, or stranger.

  7. Day 14: Sent People (John 20:21). Remind yourself that you are "sent" by God to transform the sphere of society where you live and work.

Week 3: Victory and Vision (The New You)

Focus: Living as royal sons and daughters with a renewed heart.

  1. Day 15: The New Me (2 Corinthians 5:17). Celebrate the victory of being a new creature in Christ. Leave old things behind.

  2. Day 16: Hearing the Father’s Voice (John 10:27). Quiet the noise today to listen for the "still, small voice" of God’s guidance.

  3. Day 17: Victory Over the Flesh (Galatians 5:16). Pray for the strength to live by the Spirit rather than fleshly desires.

  4. Day 18: Expecting the Unexpected (Ephesians 3:20). Enter today with anticipation that God will show Himself in a mighty way.

  5. Day 19: The Treasure Within (2 Corinthians 4:7). Ask God to reveal the unique gifts and "treasure" He has placed inside you for His service.

  6. Day 20: Standing on the Word (Matthew 7:24). Recommit to building your life on the firm foundation of the Bible.

  7. Day 21: Sustained Fire (Psalm 85:6). Pray that the revival you’ve experienced over these 21 days becomes a permanent rhythm at GFCC.
